Clinton County Divorce Records
Divorce, along with separation and annulment proceedings, concerns marital relationships and their legal dissolution or alteration. These cases are heard in the Clinton County Supreme Court, with the County Clerk managing the records such cases generate.
According to N.Y. Dom. Rel. Law § 235(1), only the parties divorcing and their attorneys have access to the filings in a divorce case. Anyone else must produce a court order compelling the clerk to make an exception.
Even so, interested parties can obtain a certificate of disposition from the clerk confirming that a divorce has occurred. The actual parties can also obtain a Certificate of Divorce from the state department of health or a copy of their divorce decree from the court clerk.
